Our senior school curriculum offers a blend of traditional and innovative subjects, fostering intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning. The curriculum is used as a minimum framework, which we extend in many different ways to provide a variety of courses and qualifications.

A number of different curriculum pathways are offered in the Seniors, which ensure that pupils study courses suited to their individual aptitudes and abilities.

Key Stage 3 (Year 9)

During Key Stage 3, students experience a broad and balanced curriculum that lays the foundation for future academic success. Our programme includes:

  • English: Developing skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
  • Mathematics: Emphasising problem-solving, logical reasoning, and analytical skills.
  • Sciences: Comprehensive lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Humanities: History and Geography to enhance understanding of the world.
  • Modern Foreign Languages: French and Spanish, promoting global communication skills.
  • Creative Arts: Art, Drama, and Music to nurture creativity and expression.
  • Physical Education: Encouraging physical fitness and teamwork.
  • Technology: Design and Technology, Computing and Food Technology to develop practical and technical skills.
Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11)

At Key Stage 4, students embark on their GCSE courses, choosing subjects that match their interests and career aspirations. Our core curriculum includes:

  • English Language and Literature
  • Mathematics
  • Science: Students can choose between combined science (2 GCSEs) or triple science (3 GCSEs)

In addition to the core subjects, students select from a wide range of options, including:

  • Modern Foreign Languages: French and Spanish.
  • Humanities: History, Geography and Classical Civilisation.
  • Creative and Performing Arts: Art, Photography, Drama and Music.
  • Technology: Design and Technology and Computer Science.
  • Social Sciences: Business Studies, Economics, Psychology.
  • Physical Education: Both practical and theoretical aspects.
