THESE ARE OURSenior Exam Results

We are delighted to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our pupils in this year’s GCSE examinations. These results reflect the school’s high academic standards and the dedication of our pupils in striving for excellence.

This year’s results are exceptional. Fifteen per cent of all grades awarded were at the very highest level of grade 9, with over a third graded 9–8 and more than half achieving grades 9–7, the equivalent of A*/A. In total, 89% of grades awarded were at 9–5 and 95% were at 9–4, confirming Sherfield’s position as a school where academic rigour is matched by breadth and opportunity.

Excellence was particularly evident in the core subjects. In English Language and Literature, 51% of grades awarded were 9–7, with Mathematics achieving 57%. The sciences produced equally strong results, with 68% at grades 9–7 in Physics, 58% in Chemistry and 64% in Biology. On average, pupils exceeded expectations by three-quarters of a grade across these core disciplines, demonstrating the effectiveness of high-quality teaching, personalised support, and a culture that inspires ambition.

"These results reflect the commitment, determination and talent of our students, supported by the expertise and encouragement of our teaching staff. Every grade tells a story of perseverance, progress and personal growth, and we are incredibly proud of what our students have achieved."Ms Caroline Taylor, Head of School
With their strong foundation and ambition, we are confident they will continue to excel in their A-Level studies.

Success extended beyond the core curriculum. Every pupil in Food and Nutrition and in French achieved grades 9–7, while 75% of Geography candidates and 83% of Computer Science candidates attained the same benchmark. Across all option subjects, students on average achieved 1.17 grades higher than expected, reflecting the school’s commitment to excellence across the full breadth of the curriculum.

These outcomes not only represent the highest levels of attainment achieved in the past five years, but also embody Sherfield’s ethos of ambition, curiosity and perseverance. They illustrate the school’s ability to stretch and challenge every individual, supporting them to achieve more than they thought possible while nurturing a genuine love of learning.

At Sherfield, examination results are just one measure of success. They stand alongside the confidence, resilience and intellectual curiosity that our students develop, qualities which prepare them not only for Sixth Form and university, but for lifelong achievement and personal fulfilment.

Sherfield School is proud of every pupil’s accomplishments and looks forward to building on this record of success as we continue to provide an education of the highest standard.

“Staff’s individualised support for pupils leads to external examination results in the senior school which show that pupils make good progress from their starting points. Some pupils make rapid progress.”
