THIS IS OURSenior Prep

Where curiosity grows, confidence takes shape, and future leaders thrive.

Year 5 to Year 8 (9 to 13 years old)

Sherfield's Senior Prep is where growing minds meet growing independence. At Sherfield, this is a transformational phase, a launchpad for academic confidence, leadership and character.

Building on our values of Kindness, Courage and Respect, we cultivate a culture where pupils feel encouraged to try, to question and to take on responsibility. Our school motto, Ad Vitam Paramus - Prepare for Life, guides the way we teach, support and inspire your child every day.

Senior Prep pupils benefit from specialist teaching across all subjects, including languages, drama, art, music, design and technology, and advanced science introduced in Year 6. Enhanced music provision, including ensemble and theory, continues the strong creative grounding established in earlier years.

At the heart of Senior Prep is our commitment to developing resilient, curious, and independent learners, guided every day by expert teachers who truly care. Whether pupils join us in Year 5 or later in their Prep journey, they are welcomed into a community that nurtures confidence and celebrates individuality.

Leadership is woven into the Senior Prep experience. Through opportunities such as Prefect roles, House Captaincies, Prep Council and Peer Mediation, pupils learn how to contribute positively to their community and build interpersonal skills essential for future success.

From the Christmas production to sports fixtures, outdoor learning, workshops, trips and residential experiences, Senior Prep ensures pupils develop resilience, teamwork, empathy and ambition.

Our key entry point in our Senior Prep phase is Year 7, where our classes go from two per year group to four.

Half of the Year 7 pupils are current Sherfield pupils, and the other half are new. We also offer rolling admissions and welcome applications into any year group throughout the school year. Please visit our Admissions page for more information regarding our admissions process.
